WoW patch 12.1.5 arrives with weekly maintenance on October 13, 2026, and this review was checked against Blizzard's published notes in October 2026. It is the mid-season update for Midnight Season 2, which began on August 18. There is no new season and no new dungeon pool here. Instead Blizzard adds a mega Delve, a single-boss raid, an hourly outdoor event, a new campaign chapter and a second layer of gear upgrades on top of the existing one.

New here? Start with this

If you only read one section, read this one.

  • The Labyrinth of Kindo'jan is a large Delve with nine chambers. You can do one wing or the whole thing, alone or in a small group, with Valeera Sanguinar as your companion. It is the first solo activity that leads directly to Myth-track gear.
  • The Unbinding of Kith'ix is a one-boss raid available in Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic. Mythic is flexible for 15 to 25 players.
  • Aqir Invasions run for ten minutes at the top of every hour in Eversong or Zul'Aman and end with a boss. They need no unlock quest.
  • The Promise of Tomorrow is the story chapter that closes the Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman plot.
  • Catch-up is generous. Prey hunts grant a full Journey rank each for anyone below rank 4, and your first invasion each week awards a token worth a whole renown level.

The rollout is staggered

Not everything unlocks on day one. Orin Straylight in Silvermoon gates the power increases behind research timers:

  • Week of October 6: Orin starts selling one extra Nebulous Voidcore (bonus roll) per week for gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests.
  • Week of October 13: the patch itself. Orin offers Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom.
  • Week of October 20: Ascendant Venomstones start dropping and the crest cap is lifted. Ten stones raise a fully upgraded weapon, trinket or necklace: Hero items from 321 to 328 and Myth items from 334 to 340, per Method.

What changed, system by system

Labyrinth. Eleven difficulty levels, rewards that grow with each chamber cleared, and a final boss, Kindo'jan, that Method compares to a Nemesis fight and that only opens after every other chamber is done. Three chambers count as one Delve for the Great Vault. You reach it through the campaign, or by taking The Labyrinth from Kul'amara the Fierce at Tokka's Landing, and once unlocked it is open to your whole warband.

Kith'ix. Method lists ten items, all dropping at rank 3 of 6 on their upgrade track. One item per armor type interacts with the Venomcursed items from Ula'tek, so raiders who already own those get extra value.

Aqir Invasions. Six objective types, three combat and three non-combat, with random affixes on the combat ones. They feed a new old-style reputation, the Aqir Research Enclave, which runs from Neutral to Exalted and sells a mount called the Corrupted Swarmer.

Mythic+. Keystone Myth returns at 3,600 rating, rewarding the title the Venomous Contender and a Timelost Saddle. Blizzard says targeted dungeon tuning for difficulty outliers ships alongside it. For context, Method's October list ranks Altar of Fangs as the hardest dungeon of the pool and Kings' Rest as the easiest.

Quality of life. Player coordinates under the minimap, an animated border on raid frames when you can dispel something, a looping low-health audio cue, and Legion and Battle for Azeroth reputations shared across the warband.

The mount. The Sporebearer Fungal Strider costs 5,000,000 gold, with optional auction house and transmog vendors for another 2,000,000 in total.

Class changes that matter

  • Devourer Demon Hunter: Collapsing Star gains range after the cast starts and loses its five-second lockout on cancel; talents are reshuffled; the Void-Scarred tree is rebuilt around actually casting Collapsing Star. Details are in our Devourer guide.
  • Protection Warrior: Execute deals 30 percent more damage, and Colossus makes Execute and Revenge cost 10 less Rage.
  • Outlaw Rogue: Deft Maneuvers now adds 5 Energy to Blade Flurry per target hit, up to 30, instead of a flat 30.
  • Marksmanship Hunter: Unload is removed; Blood Fletching makes Aimed Shot crits apply a bleed and amplify it for four seconds.
  • Restoration Druid: Nature's Bounty is redesigned so Regrowth also heals up to three allies with Rejuvenation for 15 percent.
  • Holy Priest: Ultimate Serenity swaps places with Holy Celerity, making it cheaper to reach for Mythic+.
  • Augmentation Evoker: Scalecommander's Melt Armor deals double damage, and Chronowarden effects now scale with mastery.
  • Discipline Priest and Preservation Evoker: Master the Darkness and Merithra's Blessing both drop from one minute to 30 seconds. Preservation's Consume Flame no longer double dips on healing bonuses, offset for Flameshaper by a 20 percent healing increase.
  • Subtlety Rogue: Shadow damage modifiers are reworked to apply consistently. Blizzard says the overall effect is still under review.

Who wins and who loses

Winners and losers of WoW patch 12.1.5
Our reading of Blizzard's 12.1.5 notes, written before launch

Winners

  • Solo and Delve players. A nine-chamber run fills the world row of the vault in one sitting, and Mythical Soul Fragments lead to a Myth-track armor piece of your choice.
  • Alts and returning players. Two bonus rolls a week, Prey and renown catch-up, and an uncapped crest supply from October 20.
  • Heroic raiders. Venomstones drop from every Heroic and Mythic boss, and Kith'ix is one more bonus-roll target that starts partly upgraded.
  • Devourer players who dislike the melee weave, since the tree now pays you for the cast the spec was designed around.
  • Collectors. Warband-wide Legion and Battle for Azeroth reputations remove a lot of repeated grinding.

Losers

  • Void-Scarred builds that skipped Collapsing Star. Monster Rising's Intellect bonus falls from 15 to 10 percent, and PvP players on the forums argue a two-second interruptible cast cannot be a core arena button.
  • Discipline and Preservation, which lose buff duration with nothing listed in return apart from the Flameshaper offset.
  • Anyone chasing Keystone Myth on an off-meta spec. On October 12, Raider.IO counted 9,964 of 664,261 tracked US characters (1.5 percent) and 23,202 of 927,963 in Europe (2.5 percent) at 3,600 or above. A r/CompetitiveWoW thread estimates it takes a mix of +17 and +18 keys.
  • Solo players expecting a fast Myth set. A forum thread with more than 160 posts argues the weekly Myth crest income from solo content only finishes a couple of items across the patch.
  • Your wallet, if you want the Strider.

For veterans

  • Raid tuning already happened. The October 6 hotfixes cut Ula'tek hard on Heroic and Mythic: Spectral Coils down 20 percent, several add health pools down 20 percent, and Mythic Caustic Waves reduced from seven waves per tail to three. If your guild stalled there, this is the week to go back.
  • Recent spec buffs you may have missed. The same hotfix raised Enhancement's damage by 4 percent with 35 percent more Lava Lash, buffed Devourer's single target by 8 to 10 percent across six abilities, improved Brewmaster durability and buffed Subtlety's Trickster tree.
  • Prey rule change. Afflicted and Tormented Souls can only be used between hunts now.
  • An achievement got easier. Glory of the Wartorn Hero no longer requires Snake Eyes, Snake Eater or Good Night, Sweet Prince.
  • Do the Orin quests early. Venomstones do not drop until the chain is finished, and the research takes a weekly reset.

What comes next

At BlizzCon 2026 Blizzard outlined the rest of Midnight without giving dates. Echoes of the Worldcore introduces Talebound, a separate PvE action mode with its own classes. Eclipse is the final major update: a zone called the Mantle Vault, an eight-boss raid named The Worldcore, a legendary caster dagger, and Season 3 shortly after. The Season 3 dungeon pool includes Thraegar's Stand, The Underrot, Iron Docks, Sanguine Depths, The Stonecore and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, with Magisters' Terrace and Maisara Caverns returning. Update 12.2.5 is slated to let you transmog across armor types.
