WoW Midnight Gold Farming in Patch 12.1.5: Efficient Ways to Make Gold
With a 5 million gold mount on sale, here are the gold and resource farms that still work in Midnight Season 2: weekly routines, Coiled Isle gathering, crafting demand and the gold sinks to skip.

This look at WoW Midnight gold farming was checked in October 2026 for patch 12.1.5 (October 13) and Midnight Season 2. Gold matters more than usual right now because 12.1.5 adds the Sporebearer Fungal Strider, a mount that costs 5,000,000 gold, plus 1,500,000 for its auction house vendor and 500,000 for a transmogrifier. At the same time, players on r/woweconomy report that several easy markets from early in the expansion have collapsed. This article sorts what still works from what does not, using only numbers that come from a named source.
What 5 million gold means in real terms
On October 12 the WoW Token was 280,140 gold in the Americas and 400,178 in Europe, according to wowtoken.app. By simple division the base mount equals roughly 18 tokens at the US price and between 12 and 13 at the EU price, and the fully kitted version is 7,000,000 gold.
Method notes the mount is sold by Showena in The Den in Harandar and, like the Battle for Azeroth brutosaur before it, is only on sale during the current expansion. So you have time. Nothing below needs to be done in a week.
New here? Start with this
Gold comes from three places, and beginners should use them in this order.
- Raw gold from the game itself. World quests that pay gold, weekly caches, world bosses, vendoring loot. It needs no market knowledge and cannot lose money.
- Gathering. Herbalism, Mining, Skinning and Fishing turn time into materials other players buy. Income depends on prices that day.
- Crafting and trading. Highest ceiling, real risk, and the part of the economy that is most crowded.
Before any of that, stop leaks. Orin Straylight's weekly bonus roll costs 5,000 gold, 2,000 Voidlight Marl or 100 Veteran Mistcrests. If you have spare Marl or low crests, pay with those. And decide whether you need all three Strider vendors, since the two extras cost 2,000,000 between them.
The weekly raw-gold routine
DiscordianKitty's video on affording the mount is the clearest statement of the low-risk approach. Its title claims 300k gold a week, and its chapter list shows where that comes from: the Apex Cache, the Coiled Isle cache, world bosses, the Great Vault, Midnight world activities and gold world quests.
Reddit agrees with the direction. One r/woweconomy poster who built their fortune on professions wrote that world quests are now "by far the best value for gold" and that three characters still bring in about 200k a week. Another described going from one level 90 to eight and doing every gold world quest daily on the way to a first million.
The routine scales with characters, not with skill. Each extra level 90 adds another set of weeklies. The same subreddit is also where you find the complaint that alt armies are exactly what flattened crafting margins, so expect diminishing enthusiasm as well as diminishing returns.
Gathering that is specific to this patch
Old-world gathering is the same as ever. What is new sits on the Coiled Isle.
- Neutralized Venom Clot comes from Venomous nodes, which herbalists and miners can both work. They only spawn while you hold the Cursed Land and Waters buff from completing a Curse Surge. The node drains a bar while damaging you slightly, then leaves green puddles; running through a puddle awards the clot.
- Cursebound Globe comes from Cursed nodes, one or two per node, and each one grants a five-minute buff worth 15 Deftness. You can use Overload on Cursed nodes for up to three globes; you cannot use it on Venomous nodes.
- Both materials feed the 12.1 recipes. Method's verdict in August was careful: they could become valuable if those recipes turn out to be popular.

Fishing has a tradeable currency fish. Beached Asteroid is caught in open water around the Coiled Isle, ideally with an Eerie Lure (10 Voidlight Marl from Second Mate Sluggs, 30 minutes). It is not soulbound, and other players need 2,500 of them to buy everything from Navigator Otoola, so there is a real buyer on the other side. Groups listed as Fishing Coiled Isle share the rare spawn.

Skinning has a documented example: a r/woweconomy challenge thread tracking 23 alts over 24 days reported about 250k from skinning alone at roughly 44k gold per hour. Treat that as one player's log on one realm cluster.
Crafting: where the demand is
Crafting demand follows gearing events, and 12.1.5 is one.
- Sparks are limited to one per week, so every crafted epic is a considered purchase and buyers want maximum quality. If you can guarantee quality, work orders exist.
- Embellishment reagents. Patch 12.1 added Hunter's Ritual Stone (Blacksmithing), Coiled Snake-Eye (Engineering), Polished Ammolite (Jewelcrafting), Snakeskin Lining (Tailoring) and Adorned Fang (Leatherworking). Class guides for this season lean on Arcanoweave Lining and Hunter's Ritual Stone.
- Lucky Keychain. Removing an embellishment during a recraft consumes one, bought from the auction house. Every time recommendations shift, somebody needs them.
- Consumables named in current best-in-slot lists include Potion of Recklessness, Thalassian Phoenix Oil, Void-Touched Augment Runes and the weapon enchant Rite of the Hash'ey. With a new raid boss and the crest cap lifting on October 20, raiding and key-pushing activity has a reason to rise.
Now the warning. The r/woweconomy thread Economy feels effectively dead now lists what its author saw fall: herbs and ore at low gold per hour, thin enchanting margins, and old-expansion housing decor and lumber far below earlier prices. A separate post says many decor recipe costs were cut in 12.1.5. Do not buy stock on the strength of a video from August.
Raid BoEs and gated currencies
Method's raid loot guide expected bind-on-equip items from lieutenant-type enemies in The Venomous Abyss, with Mythic versions bound on pickup for the first few weeks of the season. Eight weeks in, that restriction should have ended, which would make Mythic BoEs a rare windfall for raiding guilds, but confirm it on your own drops before planning around it.
Several currencies are not gold but save gold or time:
- Voidlight Marl buys Eerie Lures and Orin's bonus roll, and is part of the price (750 each) of Navigator Otoola's recipes.
- Corrosive Coins come from the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Method's numbers: about 20 per Temple Patrol with three patrols every ten minutes, 75 per Temple Strike, 175 per Temple Incursion and 200 more for the Ancient Foe afterwards. Upgrade the Altar of Corrosion first, because it raises your coin income.
- Aqir Research Tokens from the first Aqir Invasion each week buy a full renown level, which gets you to renown-gated vendor recipes sooner.

For veterans
- One free knowledge reset. Patch 12.1 lets you reset knowledge points once per Midnight profession, and recipes learned through those points are unlearned. If your specialization targets a dead market, this is the exit, and you only get it once.
- Token timing. A r/woweconomy thread is already asking how the Strider will move token prices. Nobody can know; if you intend to convert tokens, the price is visible before you commit.
- Concentration crafting is crowded. Reddit's own diagnosis is that easy access to second-tier materials is what killed concentration margins. Compete where a recipe is gated behind renown or the Prey Journey, such as the Blacksmithing plans sold at Journey rank 2 for 500 Remnants of Anguish and 150 Artisan Moxie.
- Sell into the reset. Ascendant Venomstones and the crest uncap both land the week of October 20, and people recraft and re-enchant when their gear changes.
- Count the extras. A Strider with mailbox and repair only is 5,000,000. You can add the auction house later, and Hoshena, next to the vendor, swaps which purchased vendor is active.
If your goal is gear rather than gold, the same weekly loop feeds both; see our Season 2 gearing guide.
