The MapleStory November update 2026, v.272, has no published date yet, but the calendar around it is already fixed: almost every running event in Global MapleStory v.271 ends on November 10, and the Winter Countdown page schedules a maintenance for November 11. This checklist was put together on October 12, 2026 (checked October 2026) from the official event pages. It is the boring kind of guide that saves the most: nothing here requires skill, only doing things in the right week.

New here? Start with this

A pre-patch month in MapleStory is when temporary rewards expire. Coupons, boosters and event currencies from the current update carry an expiry date and most cannot be used afterwards. If you only have time for four things:

  1. Click the Winter Countdown check-in every day. Fifteen check-ins before November 10 unlock every gift in a second reward track that opens on November 11.
  2. Start Item Burning Plus if you have a Lv. 200+ character and have not used it. It ends November 10 and can only be done once per account.
  3. Take the Go Go Sidekick reward three times a week and pick the reward type you need.
  4. Do not make large purchases yet. The next update is previewed at MapleStory Fest on October 17.

Everything else below is optimisation.

The 12 steps, in date order

  1. Watch or read up on MapleStory Fest (October 17, Los Angeles). The test-server announcement says many v.272 changes will be previewed there. Decide about cubes, Star Force and new mules after it, not before.
  2. Sign up for the Public Test Server by October 21, 4:00 PM PT. The test runs October 29 to November 1 and lets you copy up to three characters. Even players who joined the v.269 or v.270 tests must sign up again.
  3. Use Sunny Sunday on October 18 for HEXA Stats. When your HEXA main stat is Lv. 5 or higher, enhancement chance is raised by 20% that day. Monster Park clears also give +250% EXP.
  4. Use October 25 for Star Force and Inner Ability. 30% off Star Force, 30% lower destruction chance below 21 stars and 50% off Ability resets. The discount does not apply to safeguard fees.
  5. Lock in 2,500 Designer EXP every week of Night Troupe. Ranks unlock weekly: Veteran on October 14, Elite on October 21, Master on October 28. Designer EXP resets every Wednesday whether or not you ranked up. A commenter on r/Maplestory notes that idling in the seating area caps at 200 a day, which is not enough on its own, so play the minigames early in the week.
  6. Use the Elite and Master perks once you have them. Equipment Transfer moves one eligible item (AbsoLab and Fafnir weapons, Gold Emblems, Lv. 100 secondaries, Mitra's Rage emblems) to another character in the same world, converting it to that class. Mount Transfer does the same for a mount skill. Each works once per world, and the transfer items expire with the event.
  7. Take every Go Go Sidekick claim before November 3. You can deploy up to ten times a day but claim once a day and three times a week, so keep deploying until you get a good run and only then claim. A full clear pays 500 Sol Erda Fragments, 4,000 Advanced EXP Vouchers or 15,000 EXP Vouchers. The top community write-up boils the strategy down to this: if you have an S-rank and an A-rank Sidekick before wave 3 ends, pour upgrades into the S, then the A.
  8. Decide on the Genesis Pass by November 2. It costs 30,000 NX, triples Trace of Darkness and must be used by November 3; its effect ends November 10. It is only worth it if your liberation is still several weeks out.
  9. Finish the Winter Countdown Special Mission by November 6. Defeat 2,000 enemies near your level and press Fill, up to five times a week and twenty in total, for 3x and 4x EXP coupons.
  10. Use November 1 and November 8. November 1 has a 5x chance for Magnificent Souls from Soul Shards and double Sol Erda from hunting. November 8 is the last discounted Star Force day of the patch.
  11. Empty your inventory of expiring items by November 10. Luxe Sauna coupons only work during this event period, with a cap of 48 charged hours a week. Winter Countdown boosters, vouchers and growth potions expire on November 11 at 2:00 AM UTC. Rental gear from Arthur stops on November 10 too, so do your Item Burning boss stages while you can still borrow it.
  12. Handle rings before the patch. Ring Polish Swap, now 50 million mesos, is removed in the next update according to the v.271 notes. If you were given a ring refund for old Lv. 5 or 6 rings, that one is not urgent: it stays in the Rewards System until September 8, 2027.

Heroic or Interactive: what differs

  • Heroic worlds. Fragments are the scarce resource, so step 7 comes first; players in the Night Troupe thread value the event almost entirely for its 300-plus fragments a week and the equipment transfer, since a Mitra's Rage emblem cannot otherwise move between characters there.
  • Interactive worlds. Most Winter Countdown rewards are tradable within world, so unused boosters have a sale value before they expire. If you bought a Philosopher's Book between June 24 and July 15, Chains of Resentment (90 Days) coupons opened before the July 22 maintenance must be redeemed by October 19.

For veterans

Mistakes that experienced players still make in a month like this:

  • Claiming a bad Sidekick run. Claiming ends your participation for the day. A wave-3 result pays 75 fragments; a full clear pays 500.
  • Letting Designer EXP reset at 2,400. There is a paid catch-up (9,000 Maple Points per rank), which is the game telling you how much a missed week costs.
  • Pushing Star Force on the wrong Sunday. October 18 and November 1 have no Star Force discount. Mesos spent then are spent at full price a week early.
  • Tapping 21 to 22 on Arcanes out of boredom. The current r/Maplestory consensus is to settle at 21 and save for Eternal gear; see the gear roadmap.
  • Starting boss mules now. No burning event is running. Prepare Link Skills and Legion instead; the meso farming guide has the numbers for when you do.
  • Paying to force a clear this month. Orange Mushroom's report on the Korean Overdrive update says boss HP and time limits were cut to two thirds there, and r/Maplestory expects 20-minute boss timers in Global with the November update. That is unconfirmed, but if you are one potential roll short of a first clear, waiting three weeks costs nothing.
  • Forgetting the second reward track. Winter Gifts are claimable from November 11 to November 24 and scale with your check-in count: the event ring selector is at 11 check-ins, its Legendary potential scroll at 12, and the Sol Erda or fragment selector at 15.

What we do not know

Nexon has only said that v.272 is the November update, that its test server runs October 29 to November 1 and that MapleStory Fest will preview it. The release date, the contents, whether a new Challenger World or burning event comes with it, and whether Korea's Lethe, Bellona and boss-timer changes are included are all unannounced as of October 12.
