Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.2 Review: Who Won and Who Lost Since Season 15 Launched
Patch 3.2.2 is a bug-fix build on top of the big 3.2.1 season patch. Here is what actually changed, which classes and builds came out ahead, and what is still unresolved.

Diablo 4 patch 3.2.2 went live on September 30, 2026 as build 73764 and is the current patch of Season 15, Season of Hell's Legacy, as of this check in October 2026. It is a small bug-fix build. The balance changes everyone is still arguing about came with 3.2.1 on September 15, so a fair review has to treat the two together, along with four hotfixes in between and a 3.2.3 build that Blizzard's notes page already lists for October 14.
New here? Start with this
If you only want the practical summary:
- 3.2.2 changes no numbers. It fixes seasonal quest blockers, a few runeword bugs and some interface problems.
- 3.2.1 was the real patch. It raised the base scaling of four classes, nerfed Barbarian, and made early endgame gearing easier for everyone.
- Nothing you are playing was deleted. Every class has at least one build in Maxroll's A tier or higher, and the nerfed builds are still strong.
- New players benefit most. Legendary items drop more often in Torment I to V, all Uniques can drop from level 1, and Expert and Penitent difficulty unlock after the Prologue.
The timeline
- September 12. BlizzCon opening ceremony; Blizzard publishes the season blog and 3.2.1 notes.
- September 15. Season of Hell's Legacy launches. Blizzard's forum PSA acknowledges login problems, and Hotfix 1 leaves Solo Self-Found unavailable.
- September 17 and 18. Hotfix 2 fixes a Dance of Knives damage bug and a Stealth runeword exploit. Hotfix 3 repairs unclaimable Tree of Whispers caches and brings SSF back.
- September 22. Hotfix 4 removes an unintended Grief damage interaction on Druid, a Warlock Fiend of Abaddon bug, and the Prime Evil Council loot loop.
- September 30. Patch 3.2.2. On the same day Blizzard posts its statement on the Hellfire Torch charm interaction, and Maxroll reports the first Annihilus drops.
- October 14. Patch 3.2.3, build 73883, is listed with more quest and Cube fixes.
What 3.2.2 fixed
The list is short. The seasonal questline could break if you entered the Worldstone Chamber portal too fast; Lester's Farm could block progress; the Chamber of Bone gave no rewards. The Edge runeword let you take two items per purchase from the Purveyor of Curiosities, and the Lore runeword made your helm invisible. The Henri's Perquisition Unique Charm could not be crafted. On the class side, Pulverize could hold a Staggered boss in place forever, the Incinerate Enchantment did not trigger the Tal rune, and the Sol rune's Damage Reduction was unreliable.
The listed 3.2.3 notes continue in that vein. The notable one stops characters from using a Prime Evil Splinter before finishing the questline, which had locked them out of Prime Evil Powers. Blizzard's workaround for characters already affected is to finish the questline on a new character in the same partition. Another moves Tyrael's spawn point after the Baal fight, which a top r/diablo4 thread this week complained was sitting on the loot pile.
Winners
Paladin. Blizzard said outright that the class had fallen behind. Its core stat scalar rose from 1.25 to 1.625, Judgement now scales with skill rank, and Divine Lance, Zeal and the Oaths were all raised. Maxroll's Snail wrote after week one that almost any Paladin skill feels good.

Warlock. The developers trimmed a few outliers, such as the Overwhelming Aspect, but buffed far more. Blazing Scream and Apocalypse share Maxroll's S+ push tier.

Summoner Necromancer. The Rathma's Waking Touch set now grants Summoning damage in general instead of feeding only Army of the Dead. MacroBioBoi reports minion builds, Mages in particular, cruising through the season. Corpse Explosion went from 110% to 180% base damage.

Poison Rogue. The patch buffed the Spellbound Steel set and several Imbuement effects. Avarilyn credits those buffs and the Splinter of Hellfire for putting Poison Penetrating Shot at the top of the class, while noting that leftover poison bugs keep it slightly below what the notes promised.
Everyone gearing up. Higher Legendary drop rates below Torment VI, Mythic drops tied to each boss's own pool, a guaranteed Mythic from Echo of Mephisto, cheaper gem and enchanting costs, tripled Whisper gold, and more experience from high Torments and the Pit.
Losers, on paper
Barbarian. The scalar dropped from 1.1 to 0.8, and Two-Handed Sword expertise, two glyphs, three Legendary nodes and two Aspects were cut. In practice Whirlwind is still S tier and Flame Charge still tops the class in the Tower. This was a correction, not a demotion.
Storm Shepherd Druid. The set's two-piece bonus now gives half as much damage per Spirit spent and no longer stacks, and multi-cast damage fell from 500% to 350%. Blizzard's own note calls the redesign a nerf. Druid is the only class without an S-tier build on Maxroll's overall list.
Counterswarm Spiritborn. The Tzic rune bug is fixed and Pestilent Swarm damage was halved, yet the build is still S tier. The rest of the class gained more than it lost; Stinger moved up to S.
Firewall Sorcerer, slightly. Ring of Fire now only reacts to direct Pyromancy damage. Northwar says the damage barely moved but the build got clunkier, until the Phoenix runeword rescued it.
What Blizzard left alone
The Hellfire Torch charm interaction, which lets a character run more Unique Charms than intended, stays for the season. Design director Dan Tanguay's forum post says the team will not change it mid-season. Maxroll called the decision disappointing and now includes the setup in its Push variants only.
Also untouched so far: leaving a pop-up Waking Nightmare portal drops you somewhere other than where you entered. That is the subject of the week's top r/diablo4 thread, and neither the 3.2.2 nor the listed 3.2.3 notes mention it.
The bigger picture
At BlizzCon on September 12 and 13 Blizzard announced Diablo V for Spring 2029, an Amazon class pack for Diablo IV in the first half of 2027, a Netflix animated series and a Switch 2 release. The panel above is the official Diablo IV roadmap talk; a forum note-taker's summary lists build novelty, War Plans improvements and a seasonal story arc leading up to the Amazon as priorities.
Two of the month's biggest r/diablo4 threads read this as the end of Diablo IV expansions. The official recap text I read confirms the class pack and the Diablo V date but does not say that in those words, so treat it as the community's reading for now.
For veterans
- Selig and Tibault's were cut. Melted Heart of Selig's resource bonus fell from 102-154% to 58-77%, and Tibault's Will regeneration from 50% to 25%.
- Overpower was reshaped. Banished Lord's Talisman and Red Blessing now reward spending Overpower stacks instead of holding them. The Talisman no longer drops for Paladin, Spiritborn or Warlock.
- Aspect of Supremacy caps at 15 bonus stacks, down from 30.
- Enchantment Master went from 100% to 60%, with a new 75% bonus when both Enchantments share an element.
- Resistances. Single-resistance affixes are now worth seven times an All Resistance affix.
- Demonform power moved. Dynamism gives 2.5% per Dominance in Demonform, down from 3%, and adds 85% Summon damage outside it.
