This PoE 3.29 endgame guide lays out the road from your first white map to a finished Atlas in Curse of the Allflame, checked in October 2026 on patch 3.29.3b. The structure of the endgame is the same as in 3.28, but 3.29 moved several things around: reflect became Thorns, Anomalies appear on the Atlas, 28 maps rotated in and out, and the league added crafting tools that change how you gear.

New here? Start with this

The endgame is the Atlas of Worlds, opened with the G key. You place map items in the Map Device in your hideout, kill the map boss, and work outwards from Tier 1 to Tier 16. Three rules cover most of it:

  • Roll every map. White maps (Tier 1-5) must be magic, yellow maps (6-10) rare, and red maps (11-16) rare and corrupted when the boss dies. That is the completion bonus, and each bonus gives one Atlas passive point.
  • Fix your character before the map fixes it for you. Maxroll's checklist: 75% in all three elemental resistances, a flask that removes bleeding, a source of freeze removal.
  • Follow the quest tracker. Around yellow maps, three questlines start: The Maven, The Searing Exarch and The Eater of Worlds. They tell you which tier to run next.

Stage 1: white and yellow maps

Your only job here is completion bonuses and not running out of maps. Kirac sells maps and his stock resets when you open one of his missions. Pack size is the best modifier a map can have; item rarity is not worth chasing early. An Orb of Scouring removes a modifier set you cannot run.

Gear at this stage is about survival. The crafting bench has two new options in 3.29 that are unlocked from the start and make early rares easier to fix: reroll three random modifiers on a rare for 3 Chaos Orbs, or one random modifier for 8.

Stage 2: red maps and the three questlines

Red maps are where modifiers start to matter. The big 3.29 change is that reflect is gone. Maps that used to reflect damage now give rare monsters Thorns:

  • Physical Thorns return a fixed 800 physical damage per hit in red maps; Elemental Thorns return 1,500 elemental damage.
  • Thorns last 5 seconds, a monster can gain them only once every 10 seconds, and you can take the damage at most once every 0.1 seconds.
  • The damage is mitigated by evasion, block, armour and resistances like any other hit.

For most builds that turns a forbidden modifier into one you can run with care.

Select a beacon on the Map Device to progress the Maven, Exarch or Eater questline. Fubgun's 3.29 atlas video orders the work in a similar way: completion first, Kirac and map sustain, then quadrant priority and Voidstones.

Stage 3: the four Voidstones

Each Voidstone raises the tier of every map on the Atlas, and with all four socketed every map is Tier 16. Each one also gives dropped maps a 25% chance to be one tier higher.

If you leave without picking one up, Kirac can return it. Each Voidstone quest also grants an Atlas passive point and two refund points. In 3.29 the Decayed Voidstone socket connects to the Forge of the Phoenix, Pit of the Chimera and Lair of the Hydra as well as the Maze of the Minotaur.

These four fights are the usual place where a character stalls, because the build that clears maps is not always the build that survives a pinnacle boss.

Stage 4: finish the Atlas tools

  • Map Device slots five and six. Maxroll lists the requirement as completing a non-Valdo Tier 17 map and the Maven's Invitation: The Atlas, in either order.
  • Atlas passive points. Maxroll's guide counts 138: 100 from map completion bonuses, 10 from unique maps, 5 from Nightmare maps and 23 from quests. The chat command /atlaspassives shows what you are missing.
  • Anomalies. New in 3.29. Completing a map affected by a Voidstone can make an Anomaly appear when you next open the Atlas. It needs no map item, ignores your Atlas tree and cannot be boosted with fragments, so run it immediately. Reflecting Mists and the Nameless Seer now live there, and 3.29.1 added the Gambling District.
  • Scrying Orb. The new Altered Prophecy cluster gives Tier 14+ maps a 4% chance to drop one. It stores the map it dropped in and moves that map's divination cards onto another map on your Atlas.

Stage 5: the 3.29 bosses and what their keys cost

  • Velka, the league's boss encounter, gives your first Cursed Ducat. Up to three Cursed Ducats socket into the Voyage Planner; each adds toughness, item quantity and item rarity to monsters in Charts and Voyages, plus its own difficulty modifier.
  • The Abyss pinnacle boss arrived with the Abyss rework and has its own unique items. Maxroll's reveal summary names Zorath's Eye of Malevolence as the way in, and on poe.ninja a fragment called Zorath's Eye of the Inevitable trades at about 1,592 Chaos Orbs.
  • Abyssal Depths lich bosses no longer have immunity phases since 3.29.1. Their life went up by 25% and three reward chests now follow the kill.

Prices like these tell you which bosses the market wants killed. Maxroll ranks Nightmare Boss Rush in S tier because it is the only way to farm Uber boss fragments.

Gearing: what to use at each stage

  • Early maps: bench crafts, Essences, and the two new reroll options.
  • Red maps: the Allflame Crafting Bench below deck on The Sovereign. You apply a currency item and choose between up to four outcomes, paying in Dead Man's Sulphur. Since 3.29.1 it also accepts Ancient Orbs and Orbs of Chance.
  • Voidstones and beyond: Ducats. Kishara's Ducat acts as a four-way split, and the Genteel's Ducat swaps attribute modifiers. Talismans from red beasts now carry enchantments such as +1 to the level of all skill gems, but they cannot be anointed.
  • Legion: Enshrouding Crystals turn a unique into another unique of the same class with a Vestigial implicit. Since 3.29.2 the crystal can be charged up to three times, raising the chance of a rarer result.

For veterans

  • Non-unique Synthesised items can no longer be obtained, and the Harvest craft that synthesised an item is gone.
  • Catalysts come only from Ultimatum now and stack to 20.
  • Abyssal Jewels and Stygian Vises come only from Abyss, apart from rare jewel drops in Delve's Abyss biomes.
  • The Genesis Tree was toned down: 16 equipment points instead of 20, and the notables that weight a modifier type give 300% instead of 500%.
  • Memory strands restrict low tiers more than people assume. A Reddit tester who logged over 18,000 currency uses derived a formula under which, at 82 strands, a modifier with eight tiers can only roll its top two.
  • New corruption implicits are worth a Vaal Orb on finished gear, for example +1 to maximum frenzy, power or endurance charges on rings.
  • The map pool rotated. Check your favourite layouts: Crimson Temple, Mud Geyser and Underground Sea left, while Toxic Sewer, Colosseum and Vault returned.
