PoE 3.29 currency farming looks different from last league: Mirage maps are gone, Breach was cut back, and the new sea-floor Voyages can pay out in raw Divine Orbs. This guide was checked in October 2026 on patch 3.29.3b, eleven weeks into Curse of the Allflame. On October 12, poe.ninja priced a Divine Orb at about 347 Chaos Orbs and a Mirror of Kalandra at roughly 375,000 Chaos, which is close to 1,080 Divines.
New here? Start with this
Chaos Orbs are the small unit of trade and Divine Orbs the large one. You do not get rich by picking up everything. You get rich by choosing one mechanic, taking its clusters on the Atlas passive tree, and selling what it produces in bulk.
A sensible order for a first character:
- Finish map completion bonuses first. Atlas points are what make any strategy work.
- Do the league mechanic whenever a Lost Chart appears. It costs nothing.
- Pick up the small things that sell: Stacked Decks trade around 6 Chaos each and Orbs of Annulment around 9.
- Pick up Chromatic Orbs. Patch 3.29 made them rarer, and at about 2.5 Chaos each they are worth nearly as much as an Exalted Orb (2.7) and about twenty times an Orb of Fusing.
- Only then specialise.
Peuget2's zero-investment strategy video is built for exactly this stage: a cheap Atlas tree, how to roll maps and Charts, and a loot breakdown that includes gold.
The eight strategies
Maxroll's Endgame Farming Tier List, last updated on September 19, puts all eight of these in its S tier.
1. Voyages (the league mechanic). Maxroll's reasoning: a consistent floor from Operative's Strongboxes and the highest ceiling in the league through Divine Orb modifiers. Details below.
2. Ethereal Scarabs. The Allflame Ember of the Ethereal used to come from Betrayal and now drops from the league mechanic. With other scarab farms removed or nerfed, this one moved to the top. The ember itself trades near 367 Chaos.
3. Divination cards. Buffed in 3.29. You no longer need to find the Nameless Seer: the Altered Prophecy notable gives Tier 14+ maps a 4% chance to drop a Scrying Orb, and Maxroll counts 12% more divination cards from the small passives leading to it.
4. Unstable Breach. Nerfed three ways: fewer packs, at most two unstable breaches open at once, and less pack size from the Atlas tree. Maxroll still calls it the best raw currency farm in the game.
5. Harvest. Lifeforce always sells, and Maxroll names the Fruiting Astrolabe as the best way to run it. Harvest Scarab of Cornucopia trades near 177 Chaos and the Scarab of Doubling near 116.
6. Mercenary rushing. Use Trarthan Scarab of Infamy and Trarthan Scarab of Renown, duel the mercenary, take the unique items, move to the next map.
7. Inscribed Ultimatum. Maxroll describes it as a Divine Orb farm with a very high jackpot.
8. Nightmare Boss Rush. The only source of Uber boss fragments, which keeps demand steady.
How to run Voyages properly
This is the one strategy every player has access to, and it is easy to do badly. Maxroll's guide by Milkybk boils down to this:

- Stockpile Charts. A Voyage uses nine. Hold at least 50 before you start so you can choose.
- Roll them before use. Charts take currency like maps but give much more quantity. Aim for at least 110% item quantity and use Exalted Orbs to reach six modifiers. A Chart cannot be changed once it is on the planner.
- Run single Charts for scouting. You place seven lanterns; the green light points at loot. Look for Operative's, Diviner's and Arcanist's Strongboxes, scarab chests and Messages in a Bottle, which trade around 138 Chaos each.
- Read the board. Completed Charts gain an implicit that affects either the whole Voyage or the four adjacent tiles. The edge of the planner has Border Modifiers that affect adjacent Charts.
- Reroll the border, within limits. Rerolls cost Dead Man's Sulphur and the price doubles each time. Maxroll stops at 9,000 Sulphur while looking for the modifier that makes rare monsters drop an additional Divine Orb.
- Default to strongboxes. Put a Chart with several valuable strongboxes in the centre and surround it with high-quantity Charts. Maxroll says around 90% of Voyages are filler runs or Operative setups.

When the Divine Orb border does appear, the plan is to pack one Chart with rare monsters: three implicits that add five strongboxes each to adjacent areas, the Sea Pillars room, and Voyage-wide implicits that increase rare monsters. Each strongbox is rolled for a stream of monsters and three extra rares, seven rares per box. Maxroll's arithmetic for that layout is 15 strongboxes and 105 guaranteed Divine Orbs. That is the jackpot, not the average. TranePanos' Divine Altar Voyage video covers a related setup built on the same strongbox and rare-monster implicits.
Three post-launch patches made this better. Strongboxes of those three types now appear by default above area level 67. Offerings to the Deep altars convert common currency into rarer currency at a 10% chance, or 20% when empowered (3.29.2). And up to three Cursed Ducats can be socketed into the Voyage Planner for more quantity and rarity at the cost of tougher monsters (3.29.3).
If you want the currency without the planning, a farming service covers the same ground.
Good farms one step down
Maxroll's A tier is worth knowing because it is cheaper to enter:
- Eternal Conflict Legion. Incubators are gone and splinters are rarer, but Legion Generals now drop Enshrouding Crystals, a new crafting currency.
- Stacked Deck farming. Easy to set up, and Maxroll notes it gets better late in a league as demand for end-of-league gambling rises. That is now.
- Beasts. Reworked Talismans joined the loot pool and some beastcrafting recipes changed, so the valuable beasts are different from last league.
- Essences sit in B tier and are unchanged: a steady farm at every stage.
- Plain map farming. Maxroll's Map Farming Strategy is a low-investment method aimed at producing Nightmare maps and Memory-influenced maps to sell.

For veterans
- The ceiling is lower, the floor is higher. That is Maxroll's summary of 3.29, and it matches the removal of Mirage-empowered strategies.
- Strongbox scarab farming lost its engine. Without Mirage, the 3.28 Ambush nerfs are finally felt; Maxroll lists Containment Strongboxes in A tier.
- Betrayal fell to C tier. Allflame Embers left it. Doubled scarab drops from safehouse chests do not make up the difference.
- Ritual has a lower ceiling because synthesised items left its reward pool, but less junk in the window means more raw currency.
- Timeless Splinters only drop in Legion encounters and from maps run by Kingsmarch Atlas Runners. The Emblematic notable was halved to a 0.3% chance.
- Catalysts are Ultimatum-only. Brave the Tower now drops 10 of a random Catalyst instead of a full stack.
- Gold matters less. Maxroll puts Alva gold farming in C tier because the league mechanic and meta farms already produce more gold than most players need.
- Heist kept a Mirage feature. The Dutiful Soldier notable gives blueprints found in maps a 15% chance of a special implicit.
